Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Prospector Trails, operated by Web Guys (Pty) Ltd ("we"), collects when you use prospectortrails.com and globe.prospectortrails.com, and how we use it. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture. We request only the basic openid, email and profile scopes and no other Google data.
• Sign-in records. When you signed in, and the access level we have given you.
• Usage of the models. Which pages you open, how long they stay on screen, which controls you press, and the website that sent you (its name only). These events are linked to your account if you are signed in, and to the share link if you came through one. Your browser also keeps a random ID in local storage so repeat visits count once; it holds nothing about you.
• Follows. The models and companies you choose to follow, so we can email you when they change.
• Technical data. IP address and browser details in our hosting providers' security and access logs, and your country (worked out by Cloudflare from your IP address, which we do not store with the events). Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts page views without cookies.

How we use it

• To sign you in and decide which pages you can open.
• To send sign-in links, the update emails you ask for by following a model or company, and, if you contact us, to reply.
• To see which models and features are used, and to show a company how often its models are viewed, as totals that do not name you.
• To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or share it except with the service providers below.

Service providers

• Supabase stores accounts and handles sign-in.
• Google provides "Sign in with Google" if you choose it.
• Cloudflare hosts the website.
• Resend delivers sign-in emails.
• Esri serves map imagery straight to your browser, so it receives your IP address.

Cookies

We set only the cookies needed to keep you signed in or to honour a share link. We use no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. The usage events above are first-party and are never shared with advertisers.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your account while you have access, and usage events for up to two years. Unfollowing stops update emails straight away; you can manage what you follow at globe.prospectortrails.com/follows. Email us to see, correct or delete your data, or to close your account; we will act within 30 days. You can also remove our access in your Google account settings.
