Planet of mines

A slow, full-screen tour of the globe: 5 live 3D drill models and 9 mining stories told in archive photos and satellite images. Put it on a lobby screen, a conference booth or a second monitor and leave it running. A QR code in the corner opens whatever is on screen.

Full screen starts with the tour. Keys: Space pause, ← → previous and next, F full screen, Q QR code, Esc back here.

The tour opens each model live, turning slowly over its terrain.

The stops

Untick any stop to leave it out, then start the tour or copy the link for your screen. The link keeps your playlist, so a kiosk can open it straight into the tour.

Running it on a screen

One click

Open prospectortrails.com/tour and press Start: the browser goes full screen and the tour loops until you press Esc. It keeps the screen awake where the browser allows it.

Unattended screens

Point a kiosk browser at the playlist link with go=1: it starts on its own, steps past any stop that fails to load, and refreshes itself every few hours so it can run for days.

Your own playlist

Pick stops above, or write the address by hand: ?p=luni,kiruna,big-hole for the stops, d=40 for seconds per stop (models get longer), qr=0 to hide the QR code, ref= to tag the QR links.

Models are schematic, built from each company's published drill results and placed on real terrain; they are not resource models, not endorsed by the companies and not investment advice. Pictures are public domain or openly licensed and credited on screen and on each story. Satellite imagery in the models: Esri World Imagery, streamed live.
