People/engineer, prospector

James Paul Norrie

James Paul Norrie (1891–1945), engineer, prospector, from Canada. Linked to gold.

The lucky break

Showed that deposits next to the richest of north-western Quebec's large gold mines could be productive and profitable.1

Legacy

DCB says the Malartic area owes him a great deal; in 2011 Osisko began an open-pit mine combining several sites he helped exploit. He sold his Ile Tiblemont shares to an American group for a considerable sum.1
